Cooktop Problems We Fix

Glass, gas, or induction, most cooktop faults sit in a switch, a sensor, or a single zone rather than the whole surface.

Cracked or Chipped Glass Surface

A crack spreads and exposes live elements underneath. Stop using that zone and let us look at it before it goes further.

Induction Zone Not Recognizing Pans

A failed coil or sensor under the glass, or cookware that is no longer magnetic enough. We tell you which one it is.

Cooktop Shuts Off Partway Through Cooking

Overheat protection is doing its job because the cooling fan or a thermal sensor has failed underneath.

Radiant Element Heats Unevenly

Burned contacts and worn switches leave one zone lukewarm while the rest of the surface works normally.

Touch Controls Dead or Frozen

Moisture under the panel, a failed touchboard, or a control lock that no longer releases.

Gas Burner Lights Then Goes Out

A dirty flame sensor or a failing thermocouple shutting the gas off seconds after ignition.

Repair or Replace Your Cooktop?

With a cooktop, the appliance is the cheap part. Cutout dimensions vary between manufacturers and between model years, so a replacement rarely matches the opening already cut into your counter. On granite or quartz, that means bringing in a fabricator to recut the stone in place, with a real risk to the slab and a bill that can pass the cost of the cooktop itself. The parts that actually fail are switches, coils, sensors, igniters, and touch boards, and all of them are replaced from underneath without touching the counter. When a repair genuinely costs more than the cooktop is worth, we tell you straight, and you will have that number before anything is taken apart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I keep using my cooktop if the glass is cracked?

No, you should not. A crack lets spills reach the elements and the wiring below the surface, which turns a cosmetic problem into a shock and fire risk. Stop using that zone, and if the crack runs across the panel, switch the cooktop off at the breaker until we look at it.

Can the glass surface be replaced on its own?

Yes, it can. On most radiant and induction cooktops, the glass is a serviceable part, so a cracked top does not mean a new appliance or a recut counter. We confirm availability for your model before you commit to anything.

Do you repair induction cooktops?

Yes, we do. Induction units from Bosch, Miele, Wolf, Gaggenau, Thermador, and Samsung, including the coils, inverter boards, cooling fans, and touch controls that account for nearly every induction fault we see.

Why does my induction cooktop shut itself off in the middle of cooking?

It shuts off because the electronics underneath are overheating and the safety cutout is protecting them. The usual cause is a blocked or failed cooling fan, sometimes a thermal sensor reading wrong. It is a repair, not a fault you have to live with.

Does my countertop have to come out for the repair?

No, it does not in nearly every case. We access the cooktop from the cabinet below or lift the unit out of the opening it already sits in, so the stone stays untouched and there is no fabricator involved.

Do you service downdraft cooktops?

Yes, we do. Downdraft units add a blower, a damper, and a vent motor to a standard cooktop, and those are usually what fail while the burners themselves are fine. We repair both sides of the unit on the same visit.
