Grill Problems We Fix

Most grills that seem finished need a burner, a regulator, or a valve rather than a replacement.

Won't Light or Ignite on the Third Try

Spark modules, electrodes, and igniter wiring corrode outdoors faster than anything else on the grill.

Never Gets Past 300 Degrees

Usually the regulator stuck in bypass mode, not a worn-out grill. Often resolved on the first visit.

One Burner Cold, Another Roaring

Blocked burner ports, spiders nesting in the venturi tubes over winter, or a valve that no longer meters gas evenly.

Yellow Flames and Heavy Flare-Ups

Grease buildup, misaligned burners, or the wrong orifices after a propane-to-natural gas conversion.

Burners Rusted Through

Stainless and cast burners are replaceable parts. A rusted burner does not mean a rusted-out grill.

Rotisserie, Side Burner or Sear Station Dead

Motors, separate valves, and dedicated igniters that fail on their own while the main grill still works.

Repair or Replace Your Grill?

A built-in grill is not an appliance you swap out. It sits in a masonry or stone island that was built around its exact dimensions, with a gas line run to it, so replacing the unit usually means taking the island apart and rebuilding it. On a terrace or a rooftop, add getting the old grill down and the new one up. A Lynx, Wolf, DCS, or Twin Eagles grill is built from serviceable parts for exactly this reason: burners, valves, igniters, regulators, and grates are all replaceable, and a full rebuild still costs a fraction of the island. Freestanding grills are simpler, and there the honest line is rust: if the firebox itself has corroded through, we will tell you it is done rather than sell you parts for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why won't my grill get past 300 degrees?

It is almost always the safety regulator stuck in bypass mode, which restricts gas flow after it senses a sudden drop in pressure. It is a common fault, not a sign the grill is finished, and in most cases it is corrected or the regulator is replaced on the first visit.

Do you repair built-in grills and outdoor kitchens?

Yes, we do. Built-in units from Lynx, Wolf, DCS, Twin Eagles, Alfresco, Viking, and Napoleon, including the side burners, warming drawers, and sear stations built into the same island.

Do you service grills on terraces and rooftops?

Yes, we do. Terrace and rooftop grills are a large part of our summer work in Manhattan and in the newer Brooklyn buildings. Tell us the building when you book, and we will handle the access arrangements in advance.

Can you convert my grill from propane to natural gas?

Yes, we can when the manufacturer offers a conversion kit for your model. The burners need matched orifices, and the regulator has to be changed for the correct gas. Running a grill on the wrong orifices is what produces yellow flames, soot, and heat that never comes up, so it is not a job to improvise.

Do you clean and tune up grills or only repair them?

Yes, we do both. A seasonal service covers burner ports, venturi tubes, igniters, grease trays, flame tamers, and a full gas leak check. It is the single best thing you can do for a built-in grill, and it catches the failures that would otherwise happen mid-season.

My grill sat outside all winter and will not start. Is it worth looking at?

Yes, it usually is. Spiders nesting in the venturi tubes, corroded electrodes and seized valves are the standard spring faults, and all of them are serviceable. The one thing that ends a grill is a firebox rusted through, and we will tell you plainly if that is what we find.
